In the present era, children are found to have fewer responsibilities than it used to be in the past time. Some people consider it as a positive development; however, some other people believe it to be a negative trend.

 Discuss both the views and give your own opinion.

Nowadays, children have been said not to be bound with as many responsibilities as those in the early time. While some parents think that this trend has several positive effects, others are not in favour of this change at all. In my essay, I would like to discuss both views and share my belief about this matter.

On the one hand, some people believe that the children are now not feeling enough responsibilities can be advantageous somehow. Some parents think their kids are able to have a happier life if they do not take on more commitments. For example, children who do not have full responsibilities to families, schools, or personal relationships may feel less tension than those with too many loads in all types at an early age. Another advantage is that they are able to think about their personal goals such as career, financial and others. For example, if they are focusing on improving their salary, they can do so by working for extra hours without having any burden of resolving family disputes and matters.

On the other hand, I think that reducing responsibilities over children’s shoulders brings about some negative effects on their own, families and society at large. To begin with, children could not learn how to take on more responsibilities for their actions. This kind of trend would not make them a responsible adult and would rather become self-centered. For example, when making a mistake, children without a sense of duty have a tendency to ignore the consequences, and blame others for the problems. Furthermore, taking inadequate responsibilities to children’s home, family members, or the people and things around would spoil the family relationship, friendship and other good contacts. Children may become indifferent, selfish and pampered. The society would lack basic cohesion and connection in the long run.

In general, it could be questioned whether giving fewer responsibilities to children than it was in the past is a positive or negative development. From my perspective, this trend has more disadvantages than advantages as discussed above.
